Local markets

For a truly authentic experience, don’t miss out on a visit to the region’s markets!

What could be better than strolling along colourful country market stalls? Under the cool shade of the ancient plane trees, local producers, craftsmen and souvenir sellers have set up shop, and their stalls overflow with luscious, fragrant Mediterranean fruit and vegetables of all colours, accompanied by sing-song southern accents and the gentle hum of cicadas.

Capestang market (Capestang)

Place Jean Jaurès - 34310 Capestang

Lying under the shade of the plane trees and at the foot of the Saint Etienne collegiate church, the Capestang market comes to life every Wednesday and Sunday mornings from 7am to 1.30pm in the Place Jean Jaurès. You’ll find all sorts at Capestang, ranging from the bookseller to the street vendor selling clothes, not to mention vegetable producers and producers of mountain cured meats and pre-prepared dishes, etc.

Every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 1 pm, a fruit and vegetable producer also runs a stall in the covered market to offer the very best seasonal Mediterranean produce.
