Canal du Midi, My Story, Our Story

In 2006, 42,000 plane trees were bordering the Canal du Midi. Today all the plane trees along the canal are threatened by a microscopic fungus, the canker stain, which withers and kills trees within 2 to 3 years. There is no solution so far. 11,700 plane trees have been cut down to slow down the progression of the disease and to protect local residents.

The French waterway institution/Voies navigables de France launched an ambitious fundraising campaign to replant the canal for the generations to come. More than 2,200 trees have already been planted. The canal is a unique heritage, everyone can help us to protect it by donating on www.replantonslecanaldumidi.fr/en
