The history of our region is closely linked to that of wine. Wine brought prosperity to Languedoc, and the canal was instrumental to this prosperity, firstly transporting eau de vie brandy, and then wine.

Some châteaux or estates have held onto their wine-growing tradition (La Provenquière, Pain de Sucre, Comps or Monplô, etc.) and produce high-quality wines that are exported across the world, while others are involved in other activities– for example, the Château Les Carrasses offers luxury hospitality and dining in a unique setting.
